Ed & Megan's spoon

Inspired by a spoon in the V&A dated 1684/5, a type called 'trefid' pattern that probably came over from France. I used a small highly polished circular planishing hammer, resting the work on a round stake, also highly polished, to get the beaten effect. The initials are 'pricked' or 'pounced' which used to be a popular alternative to engraving, being cheaper and quicker, using a sharpened engineering punch. The top initial is the family name, with their christian name initials below. The box is made of poplar, with a service wood lid, inscribed on the inside with a message for them (using engineering letter punches)
