Three victims of honey fungus

Cherry, pine, and ash; victims of an invasion of honey fungus in our front garden which killed three of the five trees in it, and turned it from a shaded woodland space into a much more open one, altering the whole character and feel of the place. There are no (legal) ways of eradicating honey fungus. You just have to plant trees and shrubs that are known to be less vulnerable to it. But it is sad to watch your plants die one by one. The latest victim is a twenty year old wisteria grown from seed, and this was preceded by a 35 year old kifsgate rose which had got right to the top of its 35 foot host, a Caucasian Wingnut which appears, fortunately to be immune to the fungus. I stamped the bottoms of all three pieces with the words 'Victim of honey fungus'. Stop Press: the wisteria is re-growing from the base; perhaps some plants are able to fight back. Stop Stop Press. It died again.
