Finger-jointed oak top box

Made of Essex walnut from Duncan, with a nicely-figured oak top; boxwood banding and knobs. The grain follows round from left to right. The finger joints (also called box joints) were troublesome. The smallest (down to 0.1mm) error in the placement of the jig is amplified until the fingers won't fit. Hopefully you can't see the tiny fillets of walnut veneer I used to fill gaps, but you may be able to see that I don't yet have a flat-top ground saw blade, so instead of being 100% square, the tops of the kerfs have very slight angles left by the alternate top bevel blade that I used. I tried to overcome this by force of clamping. The lid is held closed by a magnet inside the top, which fastens to steel washers with flattened tops fixed inside the body. The two knobs are to facilitate breaking the magnetic force.
