I asked her to write her initial and copied it in silver wire, soldering a small bump onto the horizontal stroke so that there is a slight resistance before the catch reaches its optimum closing position. I used a piece of scrap wood to test this fit, and when I was satisfied, measured the centres between the screw holes to reproduce the fit on the actual box. On the down stroke I soldered a semicircle of wire to make shifting the catch and lifting the lid easier
